UNC takes fifth title

North Carolina earned its fifth national title with six straight double figure wins in the NCAA tournament, with all of the team’s strengths clicking for the Tar Heels. Carolina, often criticized during the season a lack of focus on the defensive side of the ball, played lockdown defense in the NCAA tournament, including Monday’s win over Michigan State. In six NCAA tournament games, UNC allowed its opponents to shoot just 38.5 percent from the field, and 26.7 percent from three-point range. Meanwhile, four Tar Heels finished with double figure scoring.

The Tar Heels, who finished on top of the college basketball world after a decisive 89-72 win over Michigan State, have made their point.

Davis plans to return to UNC

DETROIT - Ed Davis barely missed a double-double in his last season game of the season, but he has a valuable consolation prize. The UNC freshman gets to keep a national championship hat and sweatshirt.
