Lady Comets fall to Glass in tennis

The Halifax County High School girls tennis team dropped a match on Thursday to visiting E.C. Glass by a 9-0 score. The Comets played well against one of the state’s most honored teams and held a number of matches to close scores. Jessica Palmer playing in the number one spot extended a much more experienced Sheila Klouck to a 4-6, 3-6 loss. Palmer was able to lead several times in a match that lasted over one and one half hours.

Donohue reviled by competition

David Donohue left Virginia International Raceway on Saturday reviled by two of his competitors after a bruising finish to the feature race, the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Daytona Prototypes feature. Nevertheless, this controversy will likely work itself out, once cooler heads prevail. As matters stand, Donohue is having an outstanding season so far, with a win for the Brumos Porsche no. 58 entry at the season-opener Rolex 24 at Daytona, followed by a third-place podium finish at VIR Saturday.

So much for a gentlemanly finish

NASCAR now has an official relationship with the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car series, and the fans here enjoyed a rock ‘em, sock ‘em finish to the Bosch Engineering 250 Daytona Prototype series race at Virginia International Raceway Saturday.
