Not this time. GW-Danville got a much better overall game from Virginia Tech recruit C.J. Barksdale Monday night. The Eagles also featured a more balanced offensive attack and capitalized on a key late defensive move by coach Bobby Martin. All of this proved too much to overcome, and GW-Danville sailed by the Halifax County high School boys’ varsity, 69-51, in a Western Valley district showdown.

Perkins wins second WVD wrestling title

The Halifax County High School wrestling team finished fourth in the Western Valley District tournament Thursday at Franklin County high school.

Boys second, girls third in WVD swim tourney

The Comet swim teams competed in the WVD meet Thursday, with the boys’ team placing second in the district and the girls finishing third. Franklin County won the boys’ meet with 137 points, with the Comets a close second at 129.
