Comet boys fall to Glass in tennis

Halifax lost to E.C. Glass in Western Valley district play, 7-2, on Thursday. The Comets made it more competitive, losing 7-2. But the two wins were significant, given the history of the Glass-HCHS rivalry, and Halifax was close in a third match. The match was finished after a rain delay.

Comets humbled by Tunstall

Tunstall humbled Group AAA Halifax County, 12-1, last night behind another stellar pitching performance from pitcher Joe Mantiply. The Comets, who turn around Friday to host GW-Danville in a key district matchup, fell to 9-1 overall. Tunstall, which has four state championships and seven regional titles in Group AA, improved to 11-1.

PH rolls past Lady Comets

Patrick Henry-Roanoke rolled to a 5-0 win over a gritty HCHS varsity girls’ soccer team Tuesday night in district action. The Pats have more athleticism than Halifax, and their girls benefit from additional travel soccer experience. PH finished with 14 shots on goal and three corner kicks, with four saves. The Comets had eight shots on goal, with 14 saves by keeper Nia Brown.
