Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be a 50/50 drawing, raffle prizes and food available. All proceeds will go to the fire department for a new truck and supplies. HVFD members are, from left, kneeling, Tommy Moore and Fred Clark. Standing, Andrea Snead, Deanne Shaw, Wendy Bowen, Joe Acree, Lori Clark, Jeremy Muse, Pete Myers, Mary Phillips and Jacob Jennings.

Football in search of defense

Even during the middle of the spring sports season, the HCHS varsity football staff has been busy working on ways to improve the Comet defensive performance this fall. HCHS, 3-7 a year ago, struggled to stop opposing defenses, especially in the rushing game. That area has gotten considerable attention in the off-season.
