Comets stay perfect with win over Rockets

Scott Rickman slammed a three-run homer while Tyler Lewis worked out of early mound difficulty, and the HCHS varsity baseball team remained unbeaten this season with a 7-1 win over Person County Friday night. The Comets are 8-0. A scheduled game against Garden City, N.Y., will not be played after rainy weather forced cancellation Wednesday.

Late runs give JV Comets a 3-1 win

Ryan Puryear earned the win on the mound and the HCHS JV baseball team produced timely late offense in a 3-1 win over border rival Person County Friday. Puryear worked four innings, striking out six. He walked two, allowed two hits and held Person scoreless. Dylan Sons finished up, pitching three innings. Sons fanned six, walking two. He allowed one hit and one earned run.
