11 at Park View make All-Southside District team

SoVaNow.com / November 14, 2012
Eleven football players at Park View have made the All-Southside District first team, the highest number of first team honorees among any of the five schools in the district.

All told, 18 Dragons earned All-District recognition, either as first team, second team or honorable mention selections. Brunswick had 15 All-District honorees; the rest of the squad was filled out by players for Southampton, Greensville and Prince Edward.

Brunswick, which won the regular season championship in the Southside, produced the district’s Defensive Player of the Year, Christopher Turner, and the Coach of the Year, Harold Williams. Prince Edward’s Marquis Fitzgerald was named Offensive Player of the Year.

Brunswick’s Jontae Smith earned first team All-District honors at three different positions — wide receiver, defensive back and kick return specialist. Christopher Turner was another Bulldog two-way All-Star, making the offensive first team at the tackle position and the defensive unit as an end.

Geo Feggins was a two-way first teamer for Park View, garnering recognition at the tight end and linebacker positions.

Dragons who made the first team on offense are Austin Pond, guard; Devin Chinault, tackle; Feggins, tight end; Le-Tazorius “Noo Noo” Patterson, wide receiver; Jason Baskerville, running back; Brett Cliborne, quarterback; and Jacob Newton, kicker.

Park View first-team defensive picks include: Donte Polite, lineman; Eric Jackson, DE; Feggins, linebacker; Vince Cliborne, linebacker; and Nigel Stanley, defensive back.

Three Dragons earned second team offensive honors: Newton, punter; Matt Brown, running back; and Emeka Nwaokocha, utility back.

Five were named to the second team All-District defensive unit: Dionte Williams, lineman; Austin Gatti, linebacker; Garry Jones, linebacker; Patterson, defensive back; and Brown, kick return specialist.

Travon Previtive and Terrie Pettus were named to the Honorable Mention team for Park View.

The All-District team was announced this week. The full list of honorees is as follows:
