The HCMS Lions boys romped 52-25 over Patrick County Middle School to win their basketball season opener.

It took awhile for the Lions to pull away in this one as the teams battled to an 11-11 tie at the end of the first quarter. HCMS held Patrick County to only six points in the second period, however, to lead 28-17 at the half.

The Lions kept up the scoring pace in the third quarter, tallying 17 points to six points for Patrick County and stretching the advantage to 45-23 heading into the fourth quarter. Patrick was held to only two points in the final frame as the Lions won going away, 52025.

Kanya Caddle led the offense for HCMS with 11 points, while three others — Josh Miller, Rashad Jones and Shamar Davis — contributed 10 points each. Arious Sweeney finished with four, Jamari Craighead had three and Titus Tucker Jr. and Shyheim Gregory added two apiece.
