Alexander named to VaSID’s softball team / June 24, 2020
James Madison University’s Odicci Alexander was named to the second team of the Virginia Sports Information Directors’ State Softball Team at the DP/Utility position.

Alexander pitches for the JMU softball team. Born and raised in Palmer Springs and a graduate of Park View High School, Alexander has soared while at JMU.

Alexander was in her senior year when the coronavirus canceled what remained of the JMU softball season. But she will be using her NCAA eligibility to return to JMU for one more year.

A two-time Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year and one time CAA Rookie of the Year, Alexander tied her career high in strikeouts with 12 against Texas Tech, was named CAA Pitcher of the week after winning two games, pitching 15.0 innings and throwing 22 strikeouts, was selected to the CAA Commissioner Academic Honor Roll, pitched a season-high eight innings and threw 10 strikeouts in a win over No. 19 Missouri, and achieved several other accolades before the shortened season ended.

Alexander was named a preseason All-American by Softball America. She was also named to the USA Softball Top 50 Watch List.

At bat 26 times in the shortened season, Alexander scored six runs off eight hits, including a double. She had four RBIs, nine total bases and drew five walks, striking out only three times in the 2020 season.
