SoVaNow.com / July 15, 2013
Meg Bane made major contributions Thursday in the VHSL coaches all-star softball game in Newport News.

Bane played for the West all-stars, who defeated the East all-stars 11-8. This is the first time in 16 years that the West defeated the East.

Bane, a first team all-regional pick, started and played four innings in the all-star tilt before being reinserted later.

Bane batted third in the order at the outset, and had an RBI single in the first inning. She later scored in the first inning.

Bane had a flyout in the third inning.

Bane later was reinserted in the seventh inning, providing the game-tying single. She finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.

The game was later stopped due to inclement weather.
