Sports Baron golfers finish in middle of three-way match with JRD rivalsSoVaNow.com / September 06, 2017
The Bluestone varsity golf team took on perennial JRD leader Randolph-Henry and Cumberland last week at Kinderton Country Club and finished the match sandwiched in the middle of the three-team pack.Bluestone shot a 193 on the day but it was not enough to overcome a very skilled R-H team. The Statesmen posted a 168 on the day to claim first place. Morgan Tharpe led Bluestone with a round of 43. Tharpe has been showing steady play in the last two weeks, taking medalist honors in the prior week’s outings. On Thursday, however, R-H’s Evan Mason shot a nine-hole score of 40 over the KCC layout to earn medalist honors. Cumberland also competed but with only one golfer. With the results Thursday, Bluestone moved to 7-6 on the season. Bluestone was scheduled to play Goochland last Wednesday but the match was called off due to weather. The Barons are scheduled to return to the links Thursday to take on Nottoway and Amelia at Crewe Country Club.
