Baron golfers swing for a district title

SoVaNow.com / September 11, 2013
The Bluestone High School golf team is enjoying a very successful 2013 season thus far with a district record of 13-1 and an overall record of 15-2.

The team recorded two wins last week, defeating Lunenburg and Nottoway in a tri-match. The Barons were led by senior Justin Kidd who was medalist on the day with a score of 44.

The day was also special for Kidd as he scored his first eagle in competitive play.

Head Coach David Allgood said he is impressed with how Kidd has stepped up this season to help his team.

“Justin has been either tied for medalist or the medalist in our last three matches,” Allgood said. “He scored his first eagle last week and I’m just so proud of him and the way he is contributing to the team.

“I’m also just extremely happy with the way we have been playing and winning as a team.”

Allgood said Kidd’s eagle was the first he can remember for the Barons.

Baron golfer Macey Mills was hot on Kidd’s heels with a score of 46. Three other Baron golfers tied with scores of 48.

Allgood said the Bluestone’s one loss in district play was at the hands of a very good Randolph-Henry team. The Barons are scheduled to play R-H on September 10 in an away match. The Barons will return to their home course, Kinderton, on September 12 to face off again against R-H.
