Baron JV basketball ends year in JRD four-way tie / February 14, 2018

The Bluestone junior varsity basketball team wrapped up a good season this week, finishing with an 11-5 district record in a four-way tie for first place in the James River District.

Prince Edward, Goochland and Nottoway also claimed a share of the JRD regular season championship.

Bluestone began the season holding the No. 1 spot by themselves up until the Christmas break. After the break, the team went 6-6 to finish out the season. The boys finished the season at 11-8 overall.

First-year jayvee head coach Aleko Mangum had a very solid season. Mangum moved up from coaching Bluestone’s middle school basketball team.

Though Mangum would have liked to see the team hold the one-spot by themselves, he was proud of his players and their effort.

“We finished in a tie for first and I can’t be mad at that. It was a good season,” he said.
