Baron soccer girls take first-ever victory over Goochland / April 04, 2018
The Bluestone varsity girls soccer team hosted Goochland last Wednesday and accomplished a historic feat for the soccer program with the 2-1 victory.

The win marked the first time in the history of the girls’ soccer program that Bluestone has bested Goochland.

The match was extremely competitive. Defense was strong for both teams, but Goochland found the net at the 33:45 mark for the 1-0 Lady Bulldogs lead.

Coming out of the half down by a goal, the Lady Barons turned up their game in the second half.

April Newton scored on an assist by Ashlyn Knott 6:53 into the half to tie the score 1-1. The girls continued to play solid defense and after nearly 10 minutes of play, Ashlyn Knott found the net on a breakaway at the 16:37 mark.

This would be the last of the scoring in an exciting 2-1 match for the Lady Barons.

The Lady Barons are off this week and will return to action on April 9 with a road game versus Buckingham.
