Barons begin VHSL 2-A state indoor track today / February 21, 2018

The Bluestone Barons indoor track team qualified eight members to participate in the VHSL state championships which begin today at Roanoke College. The competition continues through Thursday.

The Barons, in their inaugural season for indoor track, scored 57 points to take second place at the Region 2A championships on Tuesday and Thursday of last week. The meet was held at the Arthur Ashe Center in Richmond.

Desean Hargrove, Roger Dailey Jr, Francis Csorba, Thomas Dailey, Jacob Walker, Datrione Shearin, Nick Abernathy and Tevareous Hatcher earned trips to state competition with some solid individual and team finishes.

Below are the events the student-athletes qualified in:

55 Meter Dash: 6th Place — Desean Hargrove (7.16) — 3 pts. NP — Roger Dailey Jr (7.37)

300 Meter Dash: 3rd Place — Desean Hargrove (42.25) — 6 pts

1000 Meter Run: 2nd Place — Francis Csorba (2:56.60) — 8 pts

1600 Meter Run: 3rd Place — Francis Csorba (5:05.87) — 6 pts

55 Meter Hurdles: 3rd Place — Roger Dailey Jr (8.98) — 6pts

4x200 Meter Relay: 1st Place — Thomas Dailey, Jacob Walker, Desean Hargrove, Datrione Shearin (1:46.44) — 10 pts

4x800 Meter Relay: 2nd Place — Nick Abernathy, Tevareous Hatcher, Roger Dailey Jr, Francis Csorba (10:12.99) — 8 pts

High Jump: 2nd Place — Roger Dailey Jr (5-09) — 8 pts; 8th Place — Thomas Dailey (5-03) — 1 pt

Long Jump: 8th Place — Thomas Dailey (17-11.5) — 1 pt

Boys Team Total: 2nd Place — Bluestone High School, 57 pts
