Baseball, softball begin regional play today / May 24, 2018

Both the Halifax County High School varsity softball and baseball teams are in action tonight at the Comet fields at 6 p.m.

This is the first round of regional play, and these are elimination games. Top-seeded Comet baseball will meet the winner of last night’s PH-Roanoke-Orange matchup. That’s a 4-5 showdown in the first round of the regionals.

Comet softball also has the no. 1 seed. Halifax will meet the winner of last night’s William Fleming-PH-Roanoke game, the no. 4-5 18 Region D matchup on the South side of the bracket.

Admission is $7, with no local passes.

Both teams are seeking to advance to the regional semifinals, set for Tuesday. Halifax is scheduled to host both games, if the Comets win tonight.
