Baskerville has strong outing in state golf finals / October 18, 2017
Park View senior Sherman Baskerville made the six-hour trip to Abingdon last week to represent Park View in the 2017 State 3A golf championships held over a two-day span at Glenrochie Country Club. Playing 36 holes on an unfamiliar course with very unfamiliar terrain, Baskerville carded scores of 88 on day one and 92 on day two to finish a strong 29th overall in individual competition.

“What a great experience and accomplishment for Park View High School senior Sherwood Baskerville this week at the 3A VHSL Boys State Golf Championship in Abingdon, Va. He finished 29th in the Boys State 3A division which is incredible,” coach Chris Hardee said.

Over the course of the 36-hole marathon, Baskerville carried his golf bag more than 15 miles, racking up an impressive 36,000 steps up and down the mountainous terrain of western Virginia.

Park View freshman golfer Kelsey Moseley will travel to Midlothian to compete in the Girls State High School Golf Championships at Independence Golf Course on Oct. 23-24. This, too, will be a 36-hole tournament for the state team and individual titles.
