Bluestone dominates on Senior Night / June 09, 2021

The Bluestone High School boys varsity kickers ended the season on a high note, taking down James River District rival Amelia High School 9-1 in Skipwith on Monday night.

Seniors who were recognized on Senior Night before the match were Chris Bagbey, Gabriel Leja, Camrin Morton, Zach Newton, Cameron Seate, and Xavier Sturdifen.

The Barons ended the season with a record of 8-1-1. Coach Roger Clark said his understanding is the standings has the team ranked as the #2 seed in Region 2A with Bluestone hosting an opening round playoff match on Thursday at 6 p.m.

If the team wins Thursday they will host another regional match on Monday. The VHSL did not have official brackets posted yet listing what teams will compete.

In the Senior Night win, Bluestone put up two quick scores to start the match. As time wore on the Barons simply wore down the Raiders, stopping the match early.

Bluestone’s John Clark had three goals on the night. Chris Bagbey, Xavier Sturdifen and Cody Hoffner finished with two goals apiece.
