Bluestone girls top Park View, 5-3

SoVaNow.com / June 09, 2021

The Bluestone varsity girls soccer team celebrated their first win of the season on Monday evening when they defeated cross-county rival Park View 5-3 on Senior Night.

Due to some weather issues canceling its scheduled Senior Night, Park View recognized its senior players with Bluestone.

Bluestone has two seniors, Kaitlin Barretta and Kayla Mae “KW” Williams, each team captains. Park View recognized five seniors — Kaitland Campbell, Isabel Cranford, Khaliya Hart, Meredith Mosier, and Isabella Raneri.

Going into the match Bluestone stood at 0-6-1, the tie coming earlier in the season against PV. PV had also won a previous match against Bluestone.

The Bluestone kickers have a road match with Goochland today to end the season.

Bluestone competed with a squad of nine players the entire season. On Monday the Barons squared off against a 10-member PV team and hit goal in the 25th minute. Emma Riegert scored on an assist from Molly Garner.

Five minutes later Riegert scored again for the 2-0 lead. The Barons would take that score to the half.

In the second half Riegert hit goal seven minutes in. PV would answer with a Cranford goal at the 19-minute mark to bring the match to 3-1.

Two minutes later Ella Beatty answered with a solid corner kick for the goal. Beatty went on to score again in the 33rd minute for the 5-1 lead.

PV would make the match interesting by scoring two goals within a minute of each other as time ran down. With time running out Bluestone secured the 5-3 final.
