Bluestone golf surges past Nottoway, fall to Central Lunenburg / August 16, 2017
The Bluestone varsity golf team hosted Central Lunenburg and Nottoway in their season opening match at Kinderton Country Club Thursday and came away with a 1-1 win-loss record.

Bluestone defeated Nottoway 182-204 but finished six strokes behind Lunenburg, which scored 176.

Brandon Ligon led the Barons with a 41 over the nine-hole layout. Morgan Tharpe and Blake Gravitt each shot a 45. Brady Platzke, who played as an alternate last week, rounded out the top-four with a 51.

Nathan Newcomb and Wesley Crump posted exhibition scores of 54 and 58.

Lunenburg’s entire six-person team all shot below 50. Central Lunenburg was carried by Joseph McDaniel’s 42 and teammate Cole Wilbourne’s 43.

Mason Elliott posted a 44 and Noah Dunbar had a 47.

Match medalist Jacob Carr of Nottoway shot a 40. John Carr (53), Desmond McDaniel (52) and “T” Epps (59) completed the scoring for Nottoway.

Bluestone’s had a road match Tuesday with Amelia and Randolph-Henry and play Cumberland and Central Lunenburg Thursday.
