The Bluestone varsity girls soccer team went 1-1 in James River District competition over the past few days, improving their season record to 10-2 in the district.

Bluestone shut out Buckingham 6-0 in Skipwith on Thursday, for the team’s eighth blank of the season. On Monday the Baron girls couldn’t get past Goochland, falling 2-1.

Goochland pinned both regular seasons losses on the Barons, each by the score of 2-1. Bluestone closes its season today at Park View.

In Thursday’s win over Buckingham, Bluestone scored their first goal 10:11 into the match when April Newton found the goal after an assist from Erin Strider.

Strider found the net 13:54 in, with Saddyah Shamburger supplying the assist. Bluestone posted two additional scores before the half.

Jasmine Brown struck at the 23:33 mark, while Strider scored again 29:38 in off an assist from her sister, Emma. Bluestone led at the half 4-0.

In second half action, Newton showed her athletic power by sending a shot on goal from mid-field 18:37 in. Newton capped off a spectacular night, scoring Bluestone’s final points of the match for a nice 6-0 win.
