The Bluestone varsity volleyball team continued to dominate James River District competition by defeating Nottoway, Cumberland and non-district foe GW-Danville over their last three games.

Bluestone is on an 11-game win streak and are 6-0 in district competition. The girls have eight JRD matches left on schedule — including a match with Amelia Tuesday— before Region 2A competition begins.

Bluestone missed making it to the VHSL state tourney in 2019 by one set. The two seniors on the team, Emma Newcomb and Trista Newcomb, are from that squad that made the run up to the state.

Coach Darlynn Oxendine says her girls are playing really good at this time and she expects that to carry over as postseason play approaches.

“Varsity came out strong with everyone playing,” Oxendine said. “Another big game at home tomorrow vs. Amelia.”
