BMS girls defeat Halifax 5-1 in soccer season opener / March 06, 2019

Emma Riegert posted four goals as the Bluestone Middle School girls soccer team took its season opener over Halifax County Middle School Monday in South Boston.

Bluestone scored its first point in the 17th minute on a goal by Riegert. The Lions answered back at the 27-minute mark to even the score 1-1 going to halftime.

In the second half, Bluestone’s Katlyn Abernathy scored in the 35th minute off an assist by Riegert. Riegert added to Bluestone’s total with a goal in the 38th minute, raising the score to 3-1, Lady Trojans.

Riegert scored her third and fourth goals of the game in the 42nd and 45th minutes. Abernathy assisted on both goals.
