Brooks part of CIAA championship

Former Comet Markee Brooks will be part of the CIAA football championship game Saturday.

Brooks is a productive member of the Virginia State football team, which recently claimed the CIAA Northern Division crown with a 28-0 win over Chowan on Nov. 2.

Virginia State is 9-1 overall and 7-0 in the CIAA after last Saturday’s 46-3 rout of Virginia Union.

Virginia State has advanced to Saturday’s CIAA title game in Winston-Salem. The Trojans will meet Winston Salem State (9-1, 7-0) for the crown.

Brooks is playing wideout at VSU. He has 18 catches for 184 yards, 10.2 yards per catch, and is averaging 20.4 yards receiving per contest this season. He also has one rushing attempt for two yards, and has two kick returns for 35 yards this season.

Brooks caught two passes for 32 yards in the win over VUU.
