Halifax County High School swimmer Nick Carey qualified again for the 5A state tournament.

Carey finished fourth in regional action in Christiansburg with a time of 55.14 in the 100 fly.

The Comet boys placed ninth (61 points) and the girls were 11th (46 points). PH-Roanoke won the girls regional title and Albemarle won the boys title.

The Halifax girls posted an eighth place finish (4:57/16) in the 400 free relay.

“We did our best. It was a great day to finish up the season. The kids loved the trip to a beautiful facility,” said coach Shawn Torian.
