Sports Clarksville Dixie Boys eliminated

The Clarksville Dixie Boys baseball all-stars were eliminated in East regional play at the Day Complex in South Boston. Timberlake defeated Clarksville, 18-8, and fell to Buckingham, 14-11 on Saturday. In the first game, Timberlake picked up three runs in the first inning, five more in the fourth, followed by a 10-run surge in the fifth. Timberlake collected 11 hits. Clarksville had four runs in the first inning. J. Lloyd, B. King and C. Hicks singled. E. Smith doubled. Clarksville added two more runs in the second inning. M. Osborne singled, and J. Burton, A. Baskerville and N. Newcomb walked. Clarksville added two more runs in the fourth, but still fell short. Clarksville had seven hits in the loss. Lloyd had two of those. Buckingham later sent Clarksville packing Saturday, outlasting the local all-stars, 14-11. Buckingham had two runs in the first inning, two in the third, eight in the fifth and two in the sixth. In that sixth, Buckingham capitalized on three base hits and two walks to push past Clarksville. Clarksville scored six runs in the third inning, three in the fourth and two in the fifth. Osborne collected three hits and scored twice. Baskerville cracked two hits and scored once. King slapped two hits and scored two runs. Lloyd doubled and hit two singles and scored once. Newcomb tripled and scored once. Smith doubled, singled and scored once. S. Burton singled, walked twice and scored three runs. News & Record
