Comet boys shut out in WVD first-team voting

SoVaNow.com / February 18, 2013
The HCHS boys varsity basketball team finished 1-7 in the Western Valley district, and the Comets had no first team picks in the all-district voting.

The Comets did get one second team pick, sophomore Keyshawn Johnson, with two honorable mention selections. HCHS junior James Burden and sophomore Tavion Petty made the squad as HM picks.

GW’s Thomas Carr was coach of the year, and Eagle senior Ahmad Thomas was player of the year.

The GW Eagles won the WVD regular season and the tournament, defeating William Fleming in the tournament final. Three teams advanced to the regionals, including PH.

PH has already been eliminated in regional play, while Fleming has advanced. GW got a bye and begins regional play on Tuesday night at home.

The first team all-WVD selections included Thomas, Marcus Banks of PH, Jared Williams of GW, Adrian Dungee of Fleming, Josh Blankenship of FCHS, Keenma Jones of GW and Austin Donithan of PH.
