The Halifax County High School varsity girls' basketball team is now headed to the postseason, starting Friday.

In other action, sixth seed Orange will meet no. 3 seed Harrisonburg Friday as well.

William Fleming has the top seed, and awaits the HCHS-AHS winner in Tuesday, Feb. 19 action in Roanoke. PH-Roanoke is the two seed.

Halifax fell to Patrick County 54-29 on Senior night Wednesday.

PC has a very strong club and this score certainly was not a surprise. The Lady Cougars got progressively stronger as the night moved on. PC scored seven points in the first period, 15 in the second, 13 in the third and 19 in the final eight minutes.

Lindsey Marshall led PC with 15 points.

Daisy Mitchell led Halifax with 11, while Dee Dee Jeffress and Ella Morrison had six apiece.
