Comet jayvees lose one-point heartbreaker

The William Fleming boys’ jayvees slipped past the Comet basketball squad, 47-46, Tuesday.

Halifax County High School had outscored Fleming, 14-7, in the third period, but the Colonels rallied in the final stanza.

Fleming got four 3s in the period and outscored HCHS, 21-9, to scratch out a one-point win.

Jarvis Owens led the Comets with 19 points, while DeShane Davis added eight. Davis, Owen and Will Miller (who hit a three-pointer) led the HCHS offensive effort in the final period, but it fell short.

Justin Penick added five points for the Comets, while Nick Jones had seven. Kion Tucker had four points for the Comets.
