Comet jayvees suffer close loss at MV

The Halifax County High School jayvee boys’ basketball team suffered a tough 48-47 loss at Magna Vista Friday.

The game generated plenty of tension all night. HCHS led, 7-4, at the end of the first period. The Comets had forged a 21-16 advantage by halftime.

Magna Vista picked up momentum in the second half.

The Warriors outscored the Comets, 14-10, in the third period. HCHS led by one, 31-30, heading into the final period.

Magna Vista later outscored HCHS, 18-16, in the final quarter, and the Warriors won by two.

Zion Bailey led the Comets with 12 points.

Jarvis Owens scored 11 points for Halifax, while Nick Jones had eight.
