Comet netters shut down Martinsville 9-0

SoVaNow.com / April 25, 2019
Halifax County High School boys’ tennis defeated Martinsville on the road Tuesday, 9-0.

“The guys played really solid today. We have had times coming off a break and not having a match for over a week and a half where we have looked a little rusty. But they put in work in practice during break and picked back up where we left off before break. We are really doing a good job of controlling the pace and moving the ball well. They are really cutting down on the unforced errors and playing smart tennis,” said coach David Riddle.

“We were able to get the entire varsity team into the singles and doubles ladder today. It’s always a good day when you can do that and keep the level of play up. And Coach Palmore and I commend the guys that have been willing to sit in order to let all of their teammates get it. We always stress the team side of this sport and to see guys simply say “Okay Coach” when you tell them that you are going shift the lineup to give everybody a chance speaks volumes for the type of team that we have. They all support and want to see each other do well out there. To see them not playing and still rooting hard for the guys that are out there shows what this group is all about,” said Riddle.

Halifax is 11-0, 7-0 Piedmont District.
