Comet swimmers strong second in meet / December 06, 2018
Halifax County High School swim teams placed second overall in boys and girls action at a very competitive swim meet Monday.

The Comets trailed strong teams from Rockingham County in the meet action.

The boys had 307.50 points to Rockingham’s 728 in girls’ action.

The Rockingham men outscored Halifax 566.50-366.50.

Bassett and McMichael also competed in the meet. This was the Hy-Tek meet hosted by McMichael.

“Overall good meet. Three really strong teams. We swam against some really all around good swimmers. We were pushed hard and that helped lower most of our times,” said Comet swim coach Shawn Torian.

Jackson Dunavant won the 200 free in 2:47.94. Isabel Rosche took top honors in two events, the girls 200 IM (3.16.73) and the girls 100 meter back (1.27.62). Zach Perkins won the boys’ 500 meter free (6.33.53).
