Comets drop five-set match to Magna Vista

Halifax County High School varsity volleyball had a tough loss at home Tuesday, dropping a five-set match to Magna Vista, 25-11,18-25,9-25,31-29 and 6-15.

“I am proud of the way the girls competed tonight. This is the best we have played as a unit or a whole. Each girl hustled from the start to the end. It is great as a coach and for the girls to see them come together and compete as a team. The fourth set went until 31 points. To have only scored nine points in the third set and come back to compete to 31 points to win the fourth set shows their heart and their grit,” said coach Meg Bane.

SERVE:

Sarah Watts had 12 good serves with 3 aces scoring 8 points

Kendall Foushee had 15 good serves with 1 ace scoring 7 points

Kirsten Wellons had 11 good serves with 2 aces scoring 6 points

ATTACKS:

Bailey Bowen had 15 attacks with 4 kills

Kirsten Wellons had 21 attacks with 7 kills

Trinity Martin had 18 attacks with 3 kills

SETTING:

Sarah Watts had 22 sets with 4 assists

Kendall Foushee had 33 sets with 6 assits

BLOCKS:

Watts, Bowen each had 1 block

Martin had 2 blocks

Wellons had 4 blocks

DEFENSE:

Big game for our libero-- with 20 to target serve receive passes and 5 digs

JAYVEE REPORT: The jayvees dropped their Tuesday match to Magna Vista, 2-0. The scores were 25-19 and 27-29.
