Comets earn region, district recognition

SoVaNow.com / April 02, 2020
The Halifax County High School varsity basketball program received more accolades recently when three players were named to all-region teams and four players named to the Piedmont All-District teams.

Junior point guard Kevon Ferrell led the way in selections making first team All-Region 4D as well as first team for the Piedmont District. Ferrell was also named to the 2020 VHSL All-State first team roster.

Joining Ferrell for region honors were teammates, freshman Kameron Roberts and Jaden Waller. Each landed spots on the second-team roster.

Other Piedmont District selections were Roberts to the first team; junior classmen Waller and Davon Jennings were selected to the second-team.

The Comets enjoyed a successful season this year. Halifax won the Piedmont District regular season title, were named Region 4D Champions and entered the quarterfinals of the VHSL State Basketball Tournament as the No. 1 seed where they fell to Millbrook.

This year marked back-to-back appearances at the state quarterfinals. The Comets finished the season at 22-5.
