Comets last in WVD meet / May 17, 2009
The HCHS boys’ outdoor track team placed last in the Western Valley district meet in Lynchburg Friday.

HCHS collected 17 points. Glass won the district title in a runaway, collecting 185 points. Fleming and PH tied for second with 85 points.

GW-Danville was fourth with 81 points. Franklin County was fifth with 65 points.

David Greene of the Comets had an outstanding second place effort in the high jump (J6-04), qualifying him for the state. GW standout David Wilson won the event in 6-04.

Greene also placed third in the long jump with an effort of 21-06.75, qualifying him for the regionals.

Terrance Boyd of the Comets placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 54.34. Gordon Word of the Comets was seventh in the 800-meter run in 2:14.14.

Marcus Bowman of the Comets was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles in 44.54.
