Comets look to build on season with road trip to Jefferson Forest Friday / September 30, 2021

The Comets are on the road Friday facing 0-4 Jefferson Forest for a non-district game.

HCHS hopes to improve on its 3-0, 1-0 Piedmont District record.

Coach Rob Senseney said even with their record JF will bring a solid game to the field. Senseney said his players will have to be aware of JF’s passing game.

“Well, I mean they throw the ball around a lot, so anytime a team throws the ball a lot they can get back into a game really fast,” Senseney said. “They had the lead on two teams so we’ve got to be cognitive that they could lightning strike.

“They’re not going to change what they do. So that’s something that we have to be aware of.”

Senseney said practices have been good this week. He said Monday was not a light practice and they will be hard at it the rest of the week.

“We had a full-go practice yesterday,” Senseney said of Monday. A lot of installs getting done on Monday.”

He said as they go into this game he knows JF will try to pack the box to slow down the Comet’s run game. The Comets passing game is progressing well.

“They’ll probably try to load the box and stop the run but we have answers for that, our passing” Senseney said. We have our game plan and will adjust on the fly if we need to.”

Game time Friday night is 7 p.m.
