Comets on the road Friday, taking on Patrick County / October 21, 2021

Halifax County High School varsity football hits the road Friday taking on Patrick County in a Piedmont District matchup.

The Comets are coming are coming off their first loss of the season, falling to GW-Danville Saturday 34-16. The Cometsare 5-1, 2-1 Piedmont District.

Coach Rob Senseney said the Comets would need to hit Monday practice ready to move on. “Practices this week have been solid,” Senseney said.

He said in order to continue to compete at a high level the Comets must be committed to getting better with each practice or workout.

“In order for us to keep winning, our kids have to buy into the mentality of improving on a daily basis,” Senseney said.

The Comets also had several players banged up against GW, with a couple having to sit out the remainder of the game. One of those players was starting quarterback Dakii Chandler, injured early in the third quarter.

On the injury report Senseney said, “Injuries will be evaluated on a daily basis.”

Game time Friday is 7 p.m.
