And HCHS has not locked down second place in the regular season, either.

Kelvin Davis’ crew certainly locked down a needed win over Fleming, following a subpar performance at Franklin County.
Halifax collected nine hits and no errors, while Fleming was limited to one hit. Fleming had four errors.
Chase Wilkerson relieved Grissom in the top of the sixth and finished the game.
Grissom issued six walks and fanned five. He surrendered one hit.

The Colonels got on the board in the second inning, building a 1-0 lead with timely offense, but Grissom was able to limit the damage.
HCHS used some effective base running and got a timely RBI groundout from Avery Anderson to force a 1-1 tie. Tyler Dunn showed good hustle to beat out an RBI single, and the Comets led, 2-1, heading into the top of the third.
Avery Anderson made a nifty catch of a pop up in the top of the fourth. Dustin Crews also added another defensive web gem in the top of the fifth for the Comet defense.
HCHS got more offense in the bottom of the fifth, as Jeffress delivered a key two-run double to lift the Comets to a 4-1 lead.
Jeffress said he hit a fastball. “The pitcher was kind of throwing slow. I just waited back and drove it back up the middle real hard.”
Thomas Cole and Eddie Chaney slapped RBI singles, chasing the Fleming starter.
HCHS went through two Fleming pitchers, Joe Ray and Bryson Guerrant, without too much difficulty in a more relaxed atmosphere.
Anderson then added a two-run double, adding to Fleming’s woes.
HCHS finished the game with a three-run eruption in its half of the sixth inning. Ryan Yates scored on a wild pitch after drawing a walk and Cole later smacked a run-scoring double to end the game via the slaughter rule.
