The Halifax County High School varsity boys’ soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie against Heritage at home Monday in a preseason scrimmage.

Halifax got both of its goals from Maynor Acosta.

Halifax scored both of its goals in the first half, and then Heritage battled back to force a tie.

Assistant coach Mario Sadler said the Comets have a young, talented team, and he expects Halifax to be “pretty good.”

Practice sessions have been going well, although Sadler hopes the squad has its chance to get outside to get ready for the first game of the season.

The Comets open against Martinsville on Tuesday.

Jax Bosiger anchors the squad. He is a four-year varsity veteran and will be expected to provide significant leadership for the team.

Halifax has a talented class of juniors. The Comets have built a very respectable program in recent seasons, and the coaching staff will have expectations to keep this team headed in a positive direction.
