Comets shake off winter doldrums / February 26, 2009
Spring sports preparations are under way at HCHS, with scrimmage action coming soon.
The Comets began the first official day of the spring practice period Monday, with varsity baseball, boys' and girls soccer, tennis, softball and outdoor track making preparations for the campaign.
Varsity baseball has a scrimmage at home on March 7 against Brookville, set for 1 pm. The Comets have a second scrimmage planned against Heritage on the road for Tuesday, March 10, at 5 p.m.
The season cranks up with Bluestone, away, on Thursday, March 12, at 5 p.m.
Varsity softball has two scrimmages, beginning Friday, March 6, at Randolph-Henry, at 4:30, followed by Dan River at home on Monday, March 9.
The season begins Wednesday, March 11, at home against Heritage at 5 p.m.
Girls' varsity soccer has two scrimmages, March 6, Brookville and March 9, Heritage, with both of those at home. The season begins March 11 at Bluestone.
Boys' varsity soccer has one scrimmage set, at Heritage on March 9, before the start of the season March 11 at Bluestone.
Boys' tennis has a scrimmage set for March 6 at home against R-H, before the start of the season March 13 at home with Martinsville.
Girls' tennis has a March 6 scrimmage at R-H, before the season begins March 13 at Martinsville.
