Comets start busy week with 64-50 victory over Park View

The Halifax County High School varsity boys basketball team moved out to an early 10-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back besting non-district Park View 64-50 to continue their undefeated season.

The Comets improve to 14-0, 6-0 Piedmont District.

Halifax jumped out to a 13-3 lead to end the first period. The Comets were led by five points each from Kevon Ferrell and Zach Carter.

Halifax posted 17 points in the second frame. Park View played much more competitively, scoring 12 points.

Kameron Roberts drained nine points to head the period. Roberts would end the game with 15 points and lead all scorers.

Halifax took the 30-15 score to halftime.

Halifax kept its consistency on offense going in the third period posting 15 behind the efforts of Davon Jennings’ five points and Carter’s five points.

Park View responded with an 18-point surge. The Dragons had six players score in the frame with Josh Boyd, D. Hyman and AJ Bracey scoring four points each.

Halifax’s offense stayed hot as the Comets played out the final period 19-17.

Roberts had three other Comets join him in scoring double-figures on the night. Jaden Waller and Carter had 12; Kevon Ferrell added 10.

TJ Alexander paced Park View with 13, and Bracey knocked down 10.

Halifax was scheduled to host Appomattox last night – in a game rescheduled from Dec. 10 - and finish out the week in South Boston on Friday against George Washington.
