Comets take 72-49 win over Patrick

The Halifax County High School varsity boys basketball team remained undefeated with a 72-49 win over Patrick County Tuesday.

The Comets had four players in double figures, and placed nine players in the scoring column. Kevon Ferrell led Halifax with 13 points. Jaden Waller and Isaiah Hubbard had 11 each; Kameron Roberts shot for 10 points.

The Cougars’ L. Taylor paced all players with 16 points.

Halifax put up 46 first-half points posting 18 points in the first period and led at the end of one, 18-4.

Both teams put up big numbers in the second frame. Patrick County bounced back with a 19-point period but the Comets were on fire and dropped 28 points in the second and were up 46-23 at the half.

Ferrell headed Halifax in the half, scoring all 13 of his game points during that time. Ferrell had four treys and a basket from the foul line.

The teams played each other evenly over the third and fourth periods with both posting 13 and 14 points, respectively. William Davis had five points during the second half to lead Halifax in the 72-49 win.

The Comets faced Prince Edward High School Wednesday.

The team closes out the week back at home with a matchup with Piedmont District rival Magna Vista. JV game starts at 5:30 p.m.
