Csorba named JRD Runner of the Year

Bluestone’s Frank Csorba was named the 2018 James River District Runner of the Year and won the individual 5K title with a time of 16:58.8. With him is Dan Powell, Bluestone’s athletic director. / October 31, 2018

Bluestone cross country standout Frank Csorba won the James River District individual championship last Wednesday at Edmunds Park in South Boston with a time of 16:58 on the 3.1-mile (5K) course.

After winning the district championship and earning medalist honors at the event, Csorba was named the 2018 JRD Runner of the Year.

Buckingham had a team score of 67 to win the championship. Cumberland was runner-up with 75 points, Randolph Henry followed with 82, Prince Edward had 92, and Goochland with 106 points rounded out the top five teams.
Bluestone finished seventh. Thomas Overton, James Brown, Wes Castle, and Josh Hite rounded out the top five placements for Bluestone.

In the girls’ competition, Goochland was first with 15 followed by Buckingham with 49. Randolph Henry and Nottoway tied at third with 83. Amelia rounded out the top 5 with 95.

Region 2A tournament action begins on Thursday at Pole Green Park with Csorba competing.
