Debs punch ticket to World Series

The Halifax County Dixie Softball Debs allstars earned a spot in the World Series after a 12-0, five inning win over Prince Edward in the state tournament.

Halifax finished 5-1 in the tournament and avenged its only loss in the tournament, a 14-3 loss against Prince Edward.

The Debs will travel to Ruston, La., to begin World Series play on July 31.

The team’s lone loss was to PE on Saturday by a score of 14-3. Two of the three runs coming off of a Skye Newcomb homerun.

In the championship game Abby Martin got the start from the circle and threw for two innings; Martin would have a homerun in the win. Jadyn Harlow came in for Martin and pitched a solid closing to shorten the game.

Harlow (3 RBI’s, double, walk), J. Lewis (2 RBI’s, Double, hit), R. Long (2 hits), P. Wallace (3 hits and 2 RBI’s) , I. Long (Walk), and K. Hollingsworth (Hit).
