Dixie Boys fall out of World Series / August 10, 2017
The Virginia Dixie Boys baseball team has been eliminated in World Series play, after losing to Louisiana 12-9 on Monday.

The locals from Halifax County advanced after a victory over Arkansas.

Virginia stayed alive with a 4-3 win over Arkansas in eight innings Sunday.

Virginia took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, sparked by a Colton Allen double and singles from Leo Noblin and Shea Carey.

Arkansas answered in the bottom of the first, collecting two runs on an error, two walks and a base hit.

Arkansas took a brief 3-2 lead in the third, helped by a base hit and three walks.

The Virginia all-stars scored in the fourth with two outs to forge a 3-3 tie. Base hits from Kendall Logan, Briley Moore and Zyliek Perkins, who had the game-tying RBI, helped the locals forge a deadlock.

Then Virginia sealed the win in the eighth inning. Logan and Moore cracked doubles to deliver the eventual game-winning run.

Allen started and worked 2 2/3 innings with five strikeouts, five walks and two hits allowed.

Carey was outstanding in relief.

He pitched five and a thirds innings, with nine strikeouts. Carey walked one and allowed one hit.
