Dragon girls end season with region loss to Tabb / February 28, 2018

The Park View girls basketball team completed a successful season of basketball on a downbeat note last week as they lost to Tabb 62-29 in VHSL Class 3 east region action in Yorktown.

Park View moved up in postseason play with a pair of region tournament wins over York and Phoebus, but they were overwhelmed at the start of Wednesday’s contest against homestanding Tabb. Tabb jumped out to a 15-6 first quarter lead that widened to 30-10 at halftime, and the Park View girls had no miracle comebacks in them as Tabb went on to win handily.

Nieya Hawkins had a strong outing for Park View with 14 points, the only Lady Dragon to break double figures on the night. Azaria Williams had five points and Mikya Harrison had four as Park View struggled for offense against a stout Tabb defense.

With the win, Tabb qualified as one of two teams in the 3A region tournament to advance to the state championship tournament being played this week. Tabb went on to lose the regional final against Hopewell Friday night, 59-36. Both teams will play in state competition.

Park View ended the year with a 13-11 record.
