Dragons drop home opener against GW-Danville

The Park View Dragons ran into a buzzsaw on opening night at home in varsity baseball action, falling to George Washington-Danville 13-1 Friday in South Hill.

The Park View offense had no answer for GW pitcher Blake Bivens, who had 10 strikeouts and allowed only an unearned run in a masterful five-inning performance.

The Eagles improved to 3-0 as Bivens also had a big day at the plate with a double and a pair of singles for four RBIs. GW jumped out to an early lead when Jered Tubb hit a two-out double for a pair of RBIs in the first inning.

The Dragons will attempt to bounce back with games this week against Bluestone Friday at home, and next Thursday against Southside District foe Prince Edward, in Farmville.
