Driggs, Wilson fair well in state wrestling tournament / February 24, 2020
Halifax County High School wrestling did well at the Class 4 state tournament, but fell short of placing anyone.

The Comets had two contenders, 145-pounder Alex Driggs and 285-pound grappler Zyon Wilson.

“Both wrestlers fought hard and represented Blue Comets Wrestling and our community well. We just couldn’t catch the breaks in the matches to pull through. Still, it was a great experience for both and Coach Cole, Coach Harris and myself are extremely proud of their efforts,” said Comet wrestling coach David Riddle.

“We were able to take one wrestler last year and two this year to states. We are going to look to continue to build on this with both the individual results and the team results as well. We have a good group coming back and a good deal of potential coming into the program as well,” said Riddle.
