Sports Games tentatively scheduled as Comets seek to start playSoVaNow.com / January 21, 2021
Halifax County High School generally waits until Friday to determine if athletic meets, matches and games for the following week will take place, but already the Piedmont District calendar, http://www.piedmontdistrictva.org, is showing two of the three scheduled Comet wrestling matches postponed for next week. The wrestling team was to open Comet sports with a Tuesday match versus Martinsville (host), and Dan River. The Thursday match with Martinsville and George Washington – Danville. Saturday wrestling looks to salvage the week with a showing at the Piedmont District tournament. Bassett, George Washington, Magna Vista, Martinsville, Patrick County, and Tunstall are the other programs joining Halifax at the tournament. Still on tap for Comet sports next week are varsity boys and girls basketball and swim. Varsity basketball is scheduled for games with Martinsville on Wednesday and GW on Friday. The guys are scheduled to be at home for both games; the girls take to the road. The varsity boys swim team challenges Bassett High School on Thursday. The competition is to be held at Martinsville YMCA. News & Record
