Halifax County High School varsity girls soccer lost 1-0 to Tunstall Tuesday at home in Piedmont District tournament action.

The Comets had to play without four starters, mostly due to injury issues.

Comet coach Sid Young said the girls played hard. Young brought up Katie Mitchell, Susanna Watts, Alessandra De’dera, Kayla Hayes and Grace Wright from the jayvee squad.

Halifax is now 8-9. The Comets will play at home in regional action next Wednesday.

Halifax had some scoring opportunities. The girls gave a good effort and Young had to play several Comets out of position.

Keeper Jamie Shelton had a strong effort, with at least ten saves.
